Good morning! I’m a photographer from Helsinki: I use photography, text and collage to express the longing between humans and nature, and to dismantle memories into aesthetic fragments that tell stories about this complicated relationship.

Where to find me?

In my work I get inspired by the serenity of nature, the intimacy between humans and water, and the unexpectedness of light and reflections.

To tell my stories I use both digital and analogue methods, especially 35mm film. I love the unexpectedness of film, and how every shot will always be unique. In my collage work I also combine my own photos with illustrations and photos from other artists and photographers.

I am a self-taught photographer, and I’m currently completing my bachelor of arts degree in the University of Applied Sciences in Turku.

I have a background in organizational research and higher education, and I currently also work as a postdoctoral researcher in Aalto University School of Business.

I acquired my PhD in economics and business administration from Aalto University in December 2022.

For me, collage as a method is a way to tell stories, to draw connections across time and between moments, and to condense the aesthetic sense and feeling of a certain moment or narrative.

All my collage incorporates three-dimensional elements, as the various images are positioned on different heights and distances from the base, creating an illusion of depth. Additionally, by positioning parts of the assemblage on different levels, I’m able to narrate the collage in unexpected ways, simultaneously combining my own photos with those of others.

I’ve also used the method of multidimensional collage to “summarize” a roll of film (usually 36 photos) into just one piece of work: this allows for telling an otherwise fragmented story in one piece of art, that conveys the message and aesthetic sense of a trip, a party, a special day in the summer, or life, through a careful selection and assembling of related visuals.
